Youth Program Coordinator

Organization Overview:

The mission of the Bicycle Collective is to promote cycling as an effective and sustainable form of transportation and as a cornerstone of a cleaner, healthier, and safer society. The Collective provides refurbished bicycles and educational programs to the community, focusing on children and lower income households.

Position Overview:

The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for administering and developing the Bicycle Collective’s youth programs. The Youth Program Coordinator will work with volunteers to run Youth Open Shop, Junior Bike Mechanic Classes, Youth Mountainbike Camp, and work to develop additional programming for Youth at SLCBC.

Qualifications:

  • Must enjoy working with youth ages 4-18
  • Must be able and willing to work with kids who do not speak English
  • Basic computer skills, knowledge of Google Drive/Docs, Microsoft Word and Excel, etc.
  • Basic bicycle mechanic skills
  • Must consent to and pass a background check

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Facilitate youth programs at SLCBC, including supervising youth and teaching basic bicycle mechanic skills. 
  • Track and record program numbers
  • Encourage and mentor youth to stay engaged with Bicycle Collective Programs
  • Enforce rules and expectations for youth participants
  • Develop partnerships with schools and community organizations
  • Seek funding opportunities for Bicycle Collective youth programs

Location: Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective, 2312 S. West Temple, Salt Lake City, UT

Reports to:  SLC Bicycle Collective Director

Full time: 40hrs/wk. Full Time employees are eligible for health insurance benefits, paid holidays, and paid time off.

Compensation: $15-18/hour DOE
