Basic Bike Mechanic 101
Basic Bike Mechanic 101 Classes are currently offered every Thursday night at 5:00 pm on Facebook Live. Everyone is welcome and the classes are free. Each week we focus on a different component of the bike, so the classes can be taken stand-alone or in series.

The North American Handmade Bike Show is coming to Salt Lake City this weekend!
One thing is for sure, this show will be bike nerd heaven. Companies as large as Shimano and as small as Saltair Cycles will be here showcasing their stuff. Come see the awesome bicycles and components your fellow Americans (and possibly Canadians) are making!
Free event tickets will be given to those who volunteer with us at the Bicycle Valet.

SLC Bike Prom 2019, is happening!! Tickets are now on sale! We're riding and dancing on Saturday, June 8th. This is an event for all folks of all ages.
Bike Prom is SLC Bicycle Collective's annual fundraising event. Don your fanciest prom duds, grab a date (or group or come solo!) and join a thousand friendly riders on a slow ride around SLC streets. The ride starts at Fairmont Park (1040 E. Sugarmont Dr.) and will end at the Tracy Aviary (589 E. 1300 S.) where we'll dance the night away!
FAQs
Is this a family friendly event?
Yes! Bring the kids so they can enjoy the ride and the party at Tracy Aviary. Be advised, if kids are to ride their own bikes they will need to be able to keep pace with the group and police escort. The party tickets are priced per individual. We will have a subsidized ticket for kids under 16 years of age; the year they decide to commute the fun way or the other way.
Does it cost to participate in the group ride?
No, but donations are always appreciated! The party at Tracy Aviary is what the tickets are for if you choose to join us beyond the ride, which you should. The party is always a blast!
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
No minimum age to attend; we encourage youth under the age of 16 to be accompanied by an adult. You must bring a valid ID if you plan to purchase alcohol to be consumed at the event at Tracy Aviary.
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
We encourage bicycles for the ride from Fairmont Park to Tracy Aviary, but other modes of human-powered transportation are acceptable. There will be a bicycle valet for those staying for the ticketed event. If you must drive to Tracy Aviary to join us for the party, you can park in any available parking spots at Liberty Park.
If you are coming from the Sugarhouse area and require a vehicle to get you here, there is plenty of parking for you to leave your car at Fairmont Park. You will just have to ride back there at the end of the group ride or party to get your vehicle; no overnight parking at either park.
What can I bring into the event?
No outside food or drinks allowed. Both will be available for purchase once inside.
What should I wear?
It's called Bike Prom, so dig out your old dresses and suits or maybe that bridesmaid dress that was worn that one time - shorts, suspenders, and a bowtie; Sure! Some go retro and come in light blue frilly tuxedos or in flapper dresses and zuit suits. Visit your favorite secondhand store and you'll probably find what you're looking for! Your outfit, your call, just make it fun and enjoy the people watching!

About the St. George Bicycle Collective
The St. George Bicycle Collective is our youngest location and the only Community Bike Shop in Southern Utah. Like all shops, we started off with a small group of volunteers that committed hundreds, if not thousands, of hours to building bikes for people in need. The St. George Bicycle Collective became a full-fledged Community Bike Shop in October 2017.
The St. George Bicycle Collective is temporarily located at 389 Industrial Road, Unit 8. We take our commitment very seriously to make bicycles affordable and accessible for all, and we strive to grow our educational programs for adults and youth, our earn-a-bike programs, and social events and rides for cycling enthusiasts and newbies alike.

On the evening of October 27th, about 80 people gathered at the Provo Bicycle Collective to ride their bikes. However, instead of dressing in casual clothing or athletic gear, this group decked themselves out in tuxedos and gowns. It was Prom night in Provo; Bike Prom, that is!
Bike Prom is an annual fundraising event consisting of a casual ride around town and a dance. All proceeds go to the Bicycle Collective to be used for their charitable programs.
This year’s event featured a 5-mile ride around downtown and the pioneer neighborhoods and ended at the Startup Building were the dance was held.
The event drew nearly 100 participants and raised $340 dollars, enough to provide six underprivileged people with a free Goodwill Bike from Provo Bicycle Collective.

Provo Bicycle Collective is proud to announce newly-formed partnerships with Deseret Industries, LDS Employment Center, and BYU English Language Center through which we hope to provide dozens of free bikes to people in need each year.
Our partnership allows Deseret Industries to recommend their associates and welfare clients to our shop for a free Goodwill Bike – donated bicycles refurbished by PBC volunteers. In 2016, Bicycle Collective gave away 1,436 Goodwill Bikes.

As a lab school, the English Language Center supports BYU's
Department of Linguistics and English Language by facilitating the
teaching, learning, and research of English as a second language.

Our partnership allows UCRCP to recommend their clients to our shop for a free Goodwill Bike – donated bicycles refurbished by PBC volunteers. In 2016, Bicycle Collective gave away 1,436 Goodwill Bikes.

Provo Bicycle Collective is proud to announce its gift of 27 bikes to Timpanogos Elementary, 2 bikes to Dixon Middle and 2 bikes to Provo High during Provo’s Bike to School week. Our hope is that these bikes will be given to children who could not otherwise afford one so they too can ride their bikes to school.
These bikes came to Provo Bicycle Collective donated, were refurbished by volunteers, and safety checked by our trained mechanics. We are always looking for worthy organizations to give bikes to and interested volunteers to fix bikes with us. Contact with any questions.
Bikes for Tykes
Do you remember your first bike? I remember mine, it was blue with white tires and a flower covered banana seat. It was not only my freedom to get around, but also my freedom to explore. With this bike I started a love affair that has lasted to this day. Imagine never having that first bike. For many kids, this is a reality. Help us put a first bike into the hands of 100+ elementary aged children by donating to our Bikes for Tykes fundraiser.
Bingham Cyclery, MTB Enthusiasts of Utah and WomenMTB have come together to raise money for us here at the Collective. Last year was an amazing success with over $7000 raised in monetary and in kind donations we were able to give more than 90 bikes to kids in need. This year we hope to do even more and will be hosting 2 events!

Funds above and beyond what is needed for the Bikes for Tykes giveaway will be used to support a new Bicycle Collective youth program called “Bike School.” From start to finish, this program aims to place young people from diverse backgrounds in real bike shop jobs along the Wasatch Front, teach life long job skills and continue to provide a way for youth to earn a bike through volunteerism.
Hailing from both Northern California and Western New York the raw beauty of Utah is what drew him here. Owen started as a volunteer at the collective in 2012 and has worked as Valet Coordinator, Mechanic, Open Shop Manager, or has been a Keylist volunteer throughout the years. In his spare time he enjoys playing with Beehive Bike Polo, working on his 80's BMW, and mountain biking.

Our partnership allows Refugee Action Network to recommend their clients to our shop for a free Goodwill Bike – donated bicycles refurbished by PBC volunteers. In 2016, Bicycle Collective gave away 1,436 Goodwill Bikes throughout Utah.

Heidi is originally from Idaho but transplanted to Salt Lake City ten years ago with her bicycle at her side. Since then, she has developed a passion for active transportation and its many environmental, economic and social benefits. Heidi has bachelors degrees in Environmental Studies and Urban Planning and a Master of City and Metropolitan Planning from the University of Utah with a specialization in Smart Growth and Transportation and a Graduate Certificate in Urban Design. She has been an active triathlete and road biker since high school and has recently picked up mountain biking. Four years ago, Heidi turned in her car keys and became a full-time bicycle commuter which has opened her eyes to the benefits and challenges active transportation users face. She aspires to help design and cultivate transportation options that support resilient urban environments that focus on health, activity and wellness. Heidi has been the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Bicycle Collective since 2012. She currently works for the Utah Department of Transportation as the Active Transportation Manager in the Planning Department.
